[TYPO3] Editable complex table for Sports Ladder

I am trying to create a sports event ladder page, preferably one that can be front-end editable by non-technical people. An example of a 16-team ladder is posted at: http://uscourttennis.org/index.php?id=175

By creating the table in an HTML element and enabling FE editing the user can edit the HTML directly, but I'd rather they not see the code view.

What would be a good approach to handle this. Besides this example, with 16 teams or players, one could also have a ladder of 32. That probably would have to be a separate case.
