[TYPO3] Help replacing <p> tags striped by RTE in output from extension

Dear List

Having created an extension using the very helpful kickstarter. All is going
well, except after days of searching I can't work out how to add back in the
<p></p> tags the RTE (HTMLarea) has striped out in the database when
displaying the output of the field.

Can anyone help point me to the solution?
