[TYPO3] a-b-c 1-2-3 installer / jive with database

Hi friends -
I'm in the process of evaluating several content management systems
for a project at my school. Typo3 looks like what we need - I have
installed it (successfully, AFAIK) onto the server. I then run the
typo3-site-installer. Turn off the die(), open in the browser to the
1-2-3 setup... step 1 - okay, step 2 - okay, step 3 (load the
database) - and it throws a bunch of SQL errors. I've experimented
with the "expert setup" (and even got some things like gd and
upload_file_size set properly) - but it seems to be that the database
is only getting some of the required information written into it.
The SQL errors appear on both the user and admin pages, as well.
Also, looking quickly in phpmyadmin at the tables, be_users and
be_groups seem to be requested a lot - but they're not there. I
think I see there is a sql script that you are trying to run. I
speculate this is the problem...?
The setup:
Ubuntu server 6.06
MySQL 5.0.22
Apache 2
PHP4 and PHP5 installed
Thanks so much! I really want to use Typo3 - I don't want to use
Plone! I appreciate everyone's help in advance.
Best regards,
Jerzy G.
