Hi
In my opinion, better than insert images into rte is use "text with
image" content element and add images into list of images (better into
media if you use DAM extension) and select desired position of images.
You can define on-click enlarge, captions, alt texts, title texts,
uniform sizes, ...

And you can use some additional imgtext rendering plugin.
