You've got a working sample and a non-working sample and you don't
know where you 'should look next'? I wish I didn't always have to ask
this, but  HOW DOES THE TYPO3 OUTPUT DIFFER FROM THE PLAIN HTML?

If you can answer that question, someone will likely be able to help
you, but if you don't provide some basic, relevant information it's 
_impossible_ for anyone to help.
