[Typo3] imagefunctions w/o exec()?

Thanks, but I had  already read that thread. Perhaps I might give the 
stdgraphic-hack by Jan Bednarik a try.

But I'd rather like some statement, if the assertion of my hoster is 
correct, that typo3 imagefuncions do officially work without exec. Or if 
I should rather change the hoster.

The discussion if imagemagick is necessary or just eyecandy is not 
really my issue as I'm using many galleries and I really appreciate the 
quality of imagescaling of imagemagick.

Anybody else a clue?
