[Typo3] simulateStaticDocuments & modRewrite => 404

I've installed Typo3 3.7 on my Managed Server. When 
simulateStaticDocuments is activated, I always get 404 errors when I try 
to access one of the links to .html pages.

I'm using the provided .htaccess file with a little modification: I've 
changed the RewriteRule to
RewriteRule ^[^/]*\.html$ index.php [L]

Any idea, what I can do about that?
