[Typo3] spamProtectEmailAddresses

I have:

config {
spamProtectEmailAddresses = 1
spamProtectEmailAddresses_atSubst = <-at->
}

This is supposed to scramble the email address as it does - the email 
address becomes the last part of

javascript:linkTo_UnCryptMailto('nbjmup;nbsujoAtlkpmefcsboe/psh');

Apparently the javascript is supposed to link to something that unscrambles 
this mess. However, on my site it does absolutely nothing.
Am I missing something?
