oh yes, _please_ !!!
i posted this behaviour some time ago on bugs.typo3.org and had to learn 
that kasper himself changed this behaviour. for me, the reason is still 
unclear. see http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=858 for some official 
statements on that topic.
meanwhile, rupi has changed tt_news so that it adds the icon to treeview 
back again.
