[Typo3] could be permissions problem?

hi list

a few days ago I've installed T3 on RedHat EL3
(WhiteBox), and I followed step by step install
instructions for linux based systems. But when I try
to update/install from TER just get following error:

(typo3/ext/)

it several tiems by now and don't find anything wrong.
Could You please give me some help,
