[TYPO3] exec() security reasons

My provider has decided to disabled exec() for security reasons. That's a 
problem for my websites they don't work that nice anymore.

Can I convince my provider to enable exec() again because it doesn't matter 
for the security?? please give me some information.

Or are their other sollutions for my problem?
