[Typo3] Problem creating user account at typo3.org

I've tried to create a user account at typo3.org about 3 times but every 
time I try I get told
(in red) Invalid username, Invalid password, You MUST enter a name!, and 
You MUST enter
a valid email address!!.

I follow all the instructions but always comeback to the same "error" 
messages.

What is going wrong?  Why does not the user account creation process 
give more
specific error messages?
