Also make sure the server supports TYPO3 CMS 7.x, before starting the
update process:

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 requires at least PHP version 5.3* and MySQL version 5.1.
TYPO3 CMS 7.x requires at least PHP version 5.5 and MySQL version 5.5.

*) I would recommend PHP 5.4 or newer.

I working backup of the 4.5 site is also a good idea in case you have to
restore the previous state.
