[TYPO3-dev] TYPO3 6.1 custom FCE - tab disappearing erratically

I’ve implemented an extension based on fluidcontent_bootstrap to allow a high-traffic site to place FCEs which we’ve defined on their pages. This worked fine in the test environment over the course of a few months (pre-launch editorial stage) but since going live (on the same server with the same code), the wizard tab «FCE» keeps disappearing and re-appearing. It’s implemented using Namespaces thanks to the latest versions of Flux and VHS.

and carried out the update suggested by NamelessCoder in answer to ad_on_is. To no avail. There are never any warnings shown, there are never any error messages in the DevLog or the regular log, and all Flux debug message are always green.

It’s nothing to do with the user preferences or rights, as the same user sees the tab, 15 minutes later it’s gone, and an hour later it’s back again. Also, the FCE descriptions sometimes appear in German, sometimes in Italian (again, for the same user).

Does anyone have any suggestions?
