[TYPO3-dev] how to enlarge the BE-timeout interactively?

just another problem with my export extension:

exporting a big pagetree could take some time. as the editor can not 
click anything in the backend the timeout until auto-logout counts down 
and finaly terminates the export.

aside of setting the timeout globaly to infinity and returning the 
previous value after the export completetd, which sounds very dirty:

is there a (javascript?) function to call to reset the timeout until logout?
