The major point to know is that the declaration of stability is decided by
the extension author alone. Additionally he/she/it/they might no longer take
care of the extension, still it won't be touched. So you must always
consider the stability label together with the last date the extension was
updated. Maybe it was stable in previous TYPO3 versions (which alt_main.php
clearly points too, because that was a file for the old backend up to 4.1.x
I think).
