What do you mean with "customizations"? Changing the paths from 
locallang*.php to locallang*.xml should do no harm, especially when used 
in the tca context.

There are quite a lot references to locallang.php files. Just do a regex 
search for locallang([_a-zA-Z]+?).php in the source path. Phpstorm 
counted 602 matches…
