This shows that TYPO3 still needs improvements in its UX approach. It is
the third message of this kind (excluding my own) that I read about this
issue. I am quite sure tons of such questions will pop up when 4.4 is released.

What could be a solution if we care about user experience? It is quite
easy. A simple script on the login page could check if one of the images is
loaded properly. If not, it should redirect to a special static file
explaining to the user what to do. It is very simple, user friendly and
creates a much better user experience. People would appreciate that. Giving
user a hand is easy and it is a major step forward towards them.

Asking people to read NEWS.txt is not too friendly. It is necessary to read
this file but it is not very friendly. Don't argue, you know I am right :)
Good software always takes precautions against frustrating incidents that
users may have with it. For example, you are supposed to know what you are
doing with Linux partitioner but it still warns you about dangers. Some
recent Linux versions (SuSE) even tell you where you can search for
commands when the command is not found. There are small things but they
mean a lot to users. No one likes to feel stupid and fight something that
she/he does not understand.

The work on compression and skinning is definitely a major achievement and
improvement in TYPO3. Guys did fantastic job! It is a UX part that needs
improvements. I am sure it will be better with each new TYPO3 version :)
