I agree here!

The only thing I would find great with a sprite generator would be for skin designers. For skin users, it does not make any advantage to have it automatically generated but it will certainly lead to 
additional problems with the proper server configuration to have, as you said.

However I don't believe that skin designers will have a real problem of creating their sprite themselves or using some "official"/"recommended" generator.

As such, I would suggest to start with a static sprite included with every skin and if we find out this would be possible to highly enhance the process with a sprite generator, then we may consider 
implementing this feature.
