Well you're right, /en/ might not be in URL but, it the GET parameter 
might have been needed for further actions, so my thoughts about 
introducing another parameter is to grant "more" possibilities to users.
If the GET parameter will not be removed, the mapped configuration 
anyways can bypass the parameter. So it becomes a users choice...
