but you could use the same platfrom and attach the parts you like to 
have and you would always have the same cocpit and the same usability. 
Of course you can't cover every usecase - but you can make it modular.

Ever heard of MVC ;) One model for handling filebased data, one model 
for DAM, one model for whatever. So it wouldn't be that memory hungry - 
and as it would be modularized it'll also be easy to maintain.
