 You have a programatic working base that could completely carry a 
temporary-version. No reprogramation. You have consistent 
version-related connections of multiple entries, of any kind, you have 
the ability to move forth and back off a temporary version, and so on. 
You want to reprogram an identical functionality? When do you want to be 
finished?

 Nobody says you have to use the version-system GUI (it's maybe is the 
time to clean up that one in parallel).
 I actually spoke of :

 > and make it visually clear that an existing record has an interrupted 
version, or that
 > there are interrupted new entries

 You get a red row in the tables, and a red exclamation mark over 
edit-forms.
 Where is the need to use the versioning-GUI?
