You are right of course, talking to them is never a bad idea. I was just
thinking from a developers view: We should spend any time on coding
workarounds unless we are sure it's not a bug in Firefox (I'm pretty sure
it must be one).

So, has anyone reported the bug to the Mozilla devs? Did you get feedback?
