[TYPO3-dev] Using CDN with Typo3

Hi,

Have anybody used Content Delivery Network (CDN) with Typo3?

I found very affordable service and want to share it with you:
http://www.softlayer.com/services_cdn.html
200 GB Bandwidth for $20 monthly
It has two nodes in Europe (London and Amsterdam) at this moment.

So, I am looking for a way to implement it into Typo3. The goal is to change all image paths in HTML from local typo3temp directory to external URL.

E.g.  
http://www.typo3site.com/typo3temp/pics/s_61e0c72063.jpg
should become
http://http.cdnlayer.com/myaccount/pics/s_61e0c72063.jpg

I see typo3temp is hardcoded everywhere, so any ideas how to do this smoothly?
