This is completely different issue. Nested domains never worked well in TYPO3. Last January we spent over three weeks in Netcreators fixing various issues with this problem in both TYPO3 and RealURL and still could not make it work reliably. There is at least one fixed bug report about it.

I would expect the same link as you. But it does not work this way in TYPO3 :( TYPO3 does not like nested domains. So I never use such configurations myself.
