I already put some effort in solving the related bug 3531. I have an
almost working solution, the only problem I still see are MM relations
which are editable from both sides. I think there is a bug hidden
somewhere in there, but I can't exactly tell where (has been quite a
while since I last dug into this problem). I will have a look at my
papers again if I find any trace that may help here. But I fear I have
already thrown them away...

I think that really Kasper is the only one who can tell if this is a bug
or a strange feature...
