[TYPO3-dev] Using typo3 authorization in seperate script

Hi there, 
For a project of ours we have some general information on a typo3-page, 
but some very special things are custom php-scripts. 
Is there an easy way to include the typo3-authentication in the custom 
scripts, without making a full blown extension? 
Or should we just use some common external authentication (like radius) 
and leave typo3 and our scripts seperate?
