I agree to some degree, but it also created an enormous overhead of
irrelevant and time-consuming stuff IMHO.

Which is exactly my point. My comment was in response to the request for a
5.0 ML, and why it has not been started yet. Mailing lists tend run
off-track if there is not some clear policy on how things are distilled and
made useful. That is why we should define those things before going into
brainstorming on a ML.

I know you are not talking ecplictly to me, but still: This was in no way
the intention of my comment.
