[TYPO3-dev] UTF-8 and correct sorting for German umlauts

The docs [1] say this:

utf8_general_ci (similar to latin1_german1_ci):

Ä = A
Ö = O
Ü = U
ß = s

utf8_unicode_ci:

Ä = A
Ö = O
Ü = U
ß = ss

So in *theory* all should be fine ;-)

Note that there is no utf8 equivalent to latin1_german2_ci:

Ä = AE
Ö = OE
Ü = UE
ß = ss
