Hi Philippe
I can't promise you that you won't have any permformance problems, but I
think you won't.

We'r running several sites with much more more than 1000 pages and up to
50 Backenduser and I just imported about 2500 FE-Users for a similar
site as you wanna do. I couldn't recognize any big speed differences
between this huge sites and the smaller sites... Of course if you clear
the complete cache it's getting slower for a while.
If you combine that with the fact, that there are servers with about 50
different Typo3 installations, you won't worry anymore :-)

There is the DBAL project which makes it possible to run TYPO3 on other
dbms than MySQL but I don't think there would be a big difference in
speed, because TYPO3 won't use any features which aren't implemented
within MySQL...

That sound's great. But you realy should contact an expirianced TYPO3
company (like Snowflake), to enshure that you don't make big mistakes at
the beginning of the project... There are a lot of things you can do
wrong with a huge project like this, if you don't have the knowledge.
