That's how it seems. I guess it is all based on the IM5+ maskNegate problem 
and the fact the the author deals with it in 1000 different places instead of 
dealing with it just where it occures (in the combine function). By the way 
the source of that problem has nothing to do with a negated mask!

It would also help to implement the patches people provide and not hide from 
problems like little kids saying: "All you can do is complain."
