Probably because the original author have produced so much
documentation that he can´t remember all the places to update
when things change!

The way to deal with that is (IHMO):
 - Get a docTeam and/or Association documentation committee
 - Define a set of documents as the official Typo3 documentation
 - Structure information within these documents so that the same
subject is not covered in many documents
 - Assign the official documents to the docTeam, not to one
single author.
 - Start working!  :-)
