Come on, it's getting boring. Do you really think that someone who installs
TYPO3 needs a note that his server misses PHP?
And even if: Is this really the only advantage for using autotools?

Not yet. But what do you want to click in autoconf? It is a commandline
tool. For most users, clicking in the browser is definitely easier than
starting a script on the commmand line.
And for the rest: Improve superadmin.php

So what? If they don't know about PHP then they better keep their hands off
my TYPO3 installation.

Yes the redundant directories are installed twice. This is fine for Windows
users (who uses junction? anyway, they're not supported by zip).
All other users (non-Windows) should better use the tar archives. Which
certainly have the symlinks.

Yes, I once had this idea when I wrote the typo3-site-installer (outdated,
needs rewrite). Such a script would be nice but it has nothing to do with
the autotools.
