There are some annoying ones, but the real serious issue is that there
are still almost 250 Bugs pending. I know bugfixing is a dirty job, but
if you could announce a feature freeze for the things that were planned
for 3.8, maybe some devs would find the time to incorporate some
bugfixes and small requested features to the 3.8 release.
I am not sure if this makes sense during or before RC phase, but I'd
really like a bugsquashing bonanza take place before 3.8 is released.
bugs.typo3.org is down right now, but there are some notorious bugs I
remember: filepaths not working, Opera support is an issue, some
inconsistencies in labels, stuff like that.

I think the number of RCs just depends on how many bugs are found and
fixed. NetBSD 2.0 had lots of RCs because always in the last minute,
some serious bugs were found.
If there's enough testers, I think 2 weeks of pure testing and bugfixing
are okay, and if there's still bugs, make RC2...
