[Typo3-dev] CATMENU and tt_news

Hi,

first: please post this question to the tt_news project newsgroup and
not to the core-dev newsgroup. I`m writing this answert to both of the
newsgroups so you can post a follow up in the tt_news newsgroup if you
have further questions.

if you click on a link in the catmenu, a parameter tx_ttnews[cat] with
the UID of the selected category will be appended to the URL of the
current page.

If you have LIST-view on the same page as the catmenu, the LIST-view
will only show the news of the category whose UID is passed with the
parameter appended by the catmenu. Or there is already another solution
that I`m not aware of.

Maybe Rupert will add a target option for the catmenu in the future, I
don`t know. There are also some other features like
- show only categories that contain news entries
- show the number of news in a category
etc.
that are not possible with the catmenu. But the annotations in the
tt_news manual show you how to build your own catmenu with TS.
