[Typo3-dev] XHTML compliance

Hallo dev list,

There was a posting on the english main list about the trailing /
in the XHTML compliant output of Typo3 3.7.0. (in meta tags, etc.)

You will surely know that such a thing as
<meta name="generator" content="TYPO3 3.7 CMS" />
is not valid in HTML 4.01 transitional (or other 4.x variants)

currently it is possible to set the doctype in Typo3.

As this is already possible the trailing / should just get outputted
id an XHTML variant is used.

What do you think about this.

I have time at the weekend and could modify class.tslib_pagegen.php of
Typo3 3.8.0 from CVS in such a way that those /es would just get outputted
when XHTML is part of the doctype.

greets,
Bernhard
