As per this table http://www.frozenkiwi.net/typo3-diffs.html did you 
also update the version of tt_news and tt_products bundled with the 
Typo3 package ?
As a general question, what is the idea going forward regarding the 
versions of the "global" packages shipped with Typo3 vs. those in TER ?
