Well. Does anyone see a chance to get this into the distro?

While I'd love to weed out cruft and work with clean and hopefully lean 
design, I cannot see this happening in TYPO3.

What do you have in mind? Some kind of TYPO3 5.0 (4.0 is probaly too 
near now) with normalized DB, integrated ObjTS (obsoleting current TS) 
and sone other fine new stuff but lacking compatibility for things long 
deprecated (eg language splits, etc)?

I fear this road leads to a fork, sooner or later.
