[Typo3-dev] GIFBUILDER image size

Hi everybody,

i'm working on an extension which creates a banner from several imagefiles. the banner is rendered by a gifbuilder-cobject.
everything is working fine, but i can create only banners with a maximum width of 2000px, that means that no more image is appended after the gifbuilder-image has reached 2000px width. i've digged the mailing-lists and www.imagemagick.org for this topic but found nothing.
so, is the max width controlled by IM or by the gifbuilder-object? can i expand it and if, how? or is IM not able to create bigger images?
the problem occurs with IM 4.2.9 on typo3 3.6.2 / 3.7.0, both windows/linux...

thanks for every little hint, i'm working since five days on just this problem...
