As pointed out the dam_downloads extension already does some of that 
stuff. Thinking about it I do not like the extension name any longer - 
its a bit misleading.
Would you like to co-develop this extension?
It would be easier to get the features in by and by. And as the DAM is 
still rather young with a good extension we might be able to spare 
TYPO3 another flood of Gallery and Listing extensions based on the DAM.
