[Typo3-dev] osCommerce extension "project"

I may have gone about this backwards, however...

At least three of us among the typo3 community are committed to begin 
work on integrating osCommerce as an extension with full access to Typo3 
variables, and later vise versa. We have discussed the problem and a few 
solutions off list, and really needed to get other "osCommerce" people 
involved. In order to do that, I asked Jan-Hendrik from netfielders if 
we could have a newsgroup of some type on his server to allow us a place 
where we could invite osCommerce people to discuss and work...

He agreed, mentioned that a "project" is probably the way to go, and 
added that I should register the project on the typo3 projects page.

So my question is this: I don't exactly feel that this is a Typo3 
project in that it will never be a fundamental Typo3 component, however 
I do believe that this will be more than one extension. Probably on the 
order of, well, lots of extensions... and will quickly become extensions 
of extensions and the problems that that entails.

In short, if this does seem like it is "project" worthy, I guess I just 
need some input from Daniel Hinderink on how to proceed, if it seems 
like we should classify this some other way that is fine too.

If any of you have feedback, fire away, otherwise I will pursue making 
this a "project."
