hi!


jepp, it would be great if at least the the TER would be mirrored.
imagine you are supposed to finish your project and desperately need this
xyz extension to make the thing work and the TER is down (which happened
several times over the last week)...

from all that i know about mirroring it wouldn't be that difficult to do.
the only "bad" thing is that the mirror of the TER of course would need it's
own database to store the extension records.

this is the drawback of such a sophisticated approach of source code
versioning system (i.e. TER) compared to a simpel file based system
(extension and their different version organized in a simpel directory tree
like "typo3\extensions\ext_xyz\v.2.3.0").

suggestion: if it would be possible to extend the current t3 extension
manager with something like "import extensions from static mirror"
(providing a freely definable url where the mirrored _files_ can be found)
and then displaying a simple directory index from which the needed files may
be downloaded (something like
http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/contrib/modules/).
i'm sure that this would help people a lot.
