Did you try these as well?

rte_pb_htmlarea
bg_htmlarea

I don't know the differences of these extensions. But I really would 
wish that we had just one single working version of an RTE with htmlarea.

PS: Ok ok, open source is about choices but 3 htmlarea extensions are 
ridiculous.
