I didn't found one, but I got it working in the extension gsi_wizard_crform. You should find there the bare code (PHP and JS) to get it working.

Mind that I was forced to supply the RTE with a faked pid cause it seems to be only usable for *existing* BE pages. AFAIK this has to do mainly with the configuration of the RTE for BE users (via TS).
