[Typo3-dev] Translations and the media field

Hi all,

Can anyone point to a resources that details how to enable the "media" 
field to be shown in the "Alternate Page Layout" screen?
Seeing that the pages_language_overlay table contains a "media" field, 
I figure that there should be a way to associate a translation with a 
different "media" than the parent (english).

So far the only file that I can see that may affect whether or not this 
field is displayed is typo3/sysext/cms/tbl_cms.php.  Specifically I 
have removed line 525 (exclude = 1) and added "media" to the 
showRecordList (line 412).

Can anyone help? thanks
