Well, my servers joyfully run Debian testing/unstable. :)

Thank you very much for this information!!
I will look into this right now, because charset related stuff - once
things have been stored in the database in "wrong" encoding for a certain
period of time - would definitely cause a severe headache for me: time and
effort for finding "wrong" stuff and for it`s later conversion/repair..
