You`ll be "root" in that particular shell window only, of course. However,
this shouldn`t matter here.. 

Within that shell window you can afterwards use "Midnight Commander" ( a
truly comfortable and great companion, somewhat quite similar to Peter
Norton`s Commander for DOS ;) ). It will be easier to handle files (e.g.
editing the lilo.conf etc.) with this one. Just type in:

# mc
