[Typo3-debian] typo3 on woody, manual install

i've got the same troubles testing pdf/read with the installer:

quite ugly to read, i know. :-(
the myterious [0] appeared, as Peter Holm mentioned before, so i tried 
the commands on the shell:
-> using 'convert' with [0], seven identical files have been created, 
named install_read_pdf.jpg.0
install_read_pdf.jpg.1
(...)
install_read_pdf.jpg.6

-> without [0], it worked fine.

I tried to check
class.t3lib_install.php
class.t3lib_stdgraphic.php
for easy-to-find explanations, but couldn't find any. i'm not a 
programming-guru, so i stopped here.

maybe someone's got any news?!
