[TYPO3-UG US] Greetings from California

Sorry for the ignorant questions -- again I'm a newbie. I currently have an
existing and rather heavily visited website. So there is already an
index.htm for that site in /public_html. How can I get something for testing
purposes that typo3 considers a root-level page without messing up my
current site. Do I need to make a sub-domain? Can I tell typo3 to search for
some specific page (not index.htm) that I can put in public_html. How would
I do that?
What is templavoila? How do I get into a position to install that?

No pages on rootlevel means just that. You don't have any pages in there
that are config'ed root.
Creat a page, edit the page header, and set the page as root of website.
It's actually unchecked on my installation for some reason, maybe since I
used templavoila to make my sites.
Hope that helps at all.
