Ciao Paolo,

hai attiva la cache su file statico? Potrebbe dipendere dal fatto che 
deve cancellare troppi file su disco.
oppure potrebbe essere il mysql a piantarti la cpu mentre cancella 
tabelle che magari hanno raggiunto dimensioni ragguardevoli (in questo 
caso potresti valutare di adottare memcache)
